Basic Hunting Guide
Hunting in Project Entropia can be a solo event, or you can hunt in a team. Let's take a short walk through the various requirements and actions involved in hunting.

In order to be able to kill a monster, you will need some form of weapon, melee weapons like powerfists and swords are ready use 'out of the box' so to speak, but guns will require ammunition to make them fire. So you need to select a weapon type to use and purchase ammo for it if necessary.
If you are using a gun, there are six types of ammo available to buy: Light, Medium and Heavy Cell Packs, used for laser and plasma weapons, and Light, Medium and Heavy BLP Packs, used for BLP weapons.

With your weapon ready, you are ready to head out into the killing fields. Monsters can be found all over Calypso, some areas contain many, some contain few. After a few hunts and some exploration, you will find a few areas where you like to hunt.
Be prepared to die a few times while you find your favourite hunting grounds though - but remember, there is no penalty for dying, you will not lose any items or money. If you should die, you will be moved, as a ghost to a revival terminal, where you can be re-intergrated into a new body, this body will have minimal health, so you will need to heal it with a First Aid Pack.
You are now ready to get back and take revenge on the animal that killed you, if you can still find it.
To attack a monster, aim with your weapon so that the monter is targetted with the crosshairs on the screen. A box will appear around the monster and you can also see a health bar at the top of the box, and the name of the monster.
Depending on what weapon you are using, you may need to get close to it to be able to hit. Melee weapons are all close range - you need to be face to face with your opponent, whereas rifles allow you to keep way back. You should take some time to discover how far your weapon will reach in order to make best use of it.

With the monster targetted in the centre of the crosshairs, and in range of your weapon, start shooting/hitting, the left mouse button is used for this, each time you fire, you will see in the chat box window information showing how much damage you are dealing, and as you deal damage, the monsters health bar will shorten. Once the health bar is completely gone, the monster will die & you can collect your
reward! Be aware that it's common for a monster to try to escape when it's health gets very low, so you may need to run after it!
Approach the dead monster and stand close to it, target it again with the cross hairs and press the right mouse button to 'loot' it. This will give you the loot assigned to that monster, it will change each time you kill something. Some animals don't carry any loot, The loot window will appear to the top left of the screen, you can press the 'take all' button to close the window and transfer the loot into your inventory.
Congratulations, you are ready to kill the next one.

If while you are fighting and the monster hits you, you will see the amount of damage that you have taken displayed in the chat box window in red. Keep an eye on your health bar, just like the monsters health, you will die if it reaches zero.
Advanced Hunting
The approach required for hunting should change, depending on the creature you are hunting. Here we look at some of the tools designed to help the hunter with their challenges.

Decoys
A tool is available from the Trader Terminals that can be used to distract a monster for a short time, allowing you to make your escape or giving you a few moments to get some well targeted shots in.
You should purchase an Omegaton Distractinator and a sufficient amount of decoys from the Trade Terminal. Equip the Distractinator like you would a weapon, and while close to a creature, press fire. The decoy will fall to the ground and after a few seconds, it will activate, making itself an attractive target for the monster. The decoy won't last long, so make the most of your time. Some animals will take a decoy every time, while others are less easily fooled.
Team Hunting
You may find that you cannot easily kill the creature you are hunting, well that's no problem, call for backup. You can create a team with another player, of up to six people. When teamed, any loot is shared as evenly as possible amongst the team members.
Team hunting is a very effective technique, you can kill the animals faster and take on stronger creatures than you could on your
own.
Hit & Run
One of the simplest solo hunting methods is to run to the creature and start firing once it is within the range of your weapon and walk backwards while you fire.
Once the monster is close enough to you to be able to hit you, turn and run away from it, once you are back at maximum distance for your gun, turn again and resume firing. Clearly this method can be time consuming and works best against slow moving creatures.
Tank & FAP
Another hunting method is for one person with good armour to stand right infront of the monster, shooting it and letting the monster hit them. Another avatar should stand close by with a First Aid Pack, healing the gunman.
This method should only be used against very strong mobs, but is a good way to kill them.

Using a 'runner'
One of the oldest known hunting techniques is that of 'live bait'. One avatar attracts the attention of the creature and runs from it, while another avatar shoots it from behind. It takes practice to get it right and can be a fun and efficient method.
